Poor Quality Power Cord I had owned three Oreck's before ordering the Oreck XL Edge in March. Unfortunately, the electrical cord is of such inferior quality that it frays within a couple months of using it. The first time they had me send it back and sent me a new one. They indicated that they had had problems with the cords. Now within three months of getting the second one the cord is dangerously frayed in two spots. This has certainly been a waste of money as Oreck refuses to refund my money but is willing to have me return this one and they will send me another one. While that is a nice offer on their part I can see no reason to get a third one which will only last a few months. I am very disappointed in this product and the poor quality cord and their response. It will be the last vacuum I buy from Oreck and I am disappointed. November 10, 2012
I have always loved my Oreck's but this was extremely disappointing Let me start by saying that I have always loved my Oreck's and have always recommended them, their lightweight has always played a factor in this, and I clean houses for a living, but I ordered these two for my own personal use at home and have been extremely disappointed. The smaller of the two has the shortest hose I have ever seen and is a back braker, the attachments constantly fall off, so I find myself holding it on while trying to vacuum and there is no place to wind the cord up. The larger of the these is heavy, and a real back breaker, when I attempt to pick up the vacuum to move it from one place to another the head of the vacuum is very heavy and does not lift, and this is definitely not an old 8 pound Oreck, although the suction is great, it is a real bear to move around, and I don't like the way you have to push the head down with your foot instead of a lever, I think your cheaper, lighter models are much better, I am not sure why you decided to make any changes. Nice set We have only had out XL Edge Power Team for a month, but it really speeds up the vacuuming in the house. One person can use the smaller one to get the corners and ceilings etc. while the other person does the floors. The power and pickup of the Edge is excellent. We have a short nap carpet and where it sees traffic the most, the Edge has been picking up the matted down areas and it looks almost new again. The portable vacuum may not get rave reviews but I think people are just to picky at times and would complain if they were hung with a gold rope. January 3, 2013
Works well, easy to use I received my Oreck XL Edge yesterday and I vacuumed my entire house when I got home from work. I love my new Oreck! I almost cancelled my order because of negative reviews. The vacuum works well and is a pleasure to "drive". I did vacuum over the cord accidently but there was no visible damage. I highly recommend this product. February 21, 2013
