David Oreck is the recipient of countless national advertising and marketing awards. He was awarded the American Marketing Association's "Marketer of the Year" in 2003 and was named both U.S. National Finalist and Louisiana Entrepreneur of the Year.

David Oreck's career and passion for cleaning technology took off when he joined RCA to introduce black and white and then color television. David Oreck helped introduce home appliance breakthroughs, from automatic washers to microwave ovens. At the start of the cable TV industry, he created a master antenna company in New York.

David Oreck reengineered the vacuum cleaner with his revolutionary concept and marketed his new machine under the Oreck brand. Thus, Oreck Corporation was launched.

With no thought of retirement, he works and plays hard. He rides mint-condition Harley motorcycles and flies and restores classic planes, including a vintage Waco Open Cockpit airplane and a Navy Warbird T-34. Never one afraid of risks, Oreck even flew stunt planes in air shows.

Born in Duluth, Minn., he joined the Army Air Force at the age of 17. After the military, he founded a charter airline service in New York and did much of the flying himself.
