Lightweight, easy to use
Why should vacuuming be a workout, killing yourself pushing and lugging around a heavy vacuum? It shouldn't.

The Oreck XL21 Upright Vacuum Cleaner is engineered for lighter weight with high quality, durable, lightweight materials and a compact, highly efficient motor. To lighten the load on the upright, vacuum tools are on a separate Oreck compact canister. Why lug tools when not using them!

Superior filtration
Filtration is especially important for those with allergies or asthma to capture and remove even the finest particles. The Oreck XL Vacuum Cleaner was the first residential vacuum cleaner to receive the Seal of Approval from the independent Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI). The HEPA filtration system includes seven layers of filtration via a large three-layer Saniseal® inner bag inside a specially designed and manufactured Celoc® hypo-allergenic outer bag with four layers of filtration. The outer bag is made with the same technology as surgical masks.

The filtration system captures 99.9 percent of allergens and other particles, down to 0.3 microns or 1/250th the width of a human hair. (Bacteria measures .4 to 10 microns).

Sealed vacuum bags
Dust in your face? A bagless vacuum can raise a cloud of dust when the dirt container is emptied. Some vacuum bags also leak dust when taken out of the vacuum, diminishing the whole point of cleaning.

To prevent dust emissions, the self-sealing inner bag in the Oreck XL21 Vacuum locks in dust, dirt and allergens so what's in the bag stays in the bag. The outer bag is tightly bonded by ultrasonic lamination for improved filtration. Microban® antimicrobial product protection on the outer bag inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.

For improved cleaning effectiveness, the Oreck XL21 has a larger fan and greater airflow. To ensure the most powerful suction each time, the vacuum uses air power efficiently. The suction fan is only three inches from the floor. The vacuum uses a direct dirt path: Dirt and dust are sucked up through the handle, then fall into the bag.

In other vacuums, dirt goes up into the bottom of the vacuum bag, so the motor has to use power pushing up dirt already in the bag. Other vacuums have to suck dirt and dust through four feet of hose before the air reaches the floor.

Sound-dampening technology provides quieter operation. You can vacuum at night, when the kids are asleep, when you have time, without disturbing others and for your own comfort level.
