The Oreck Advantage: Direct Suction

Our direct suction design delivers dirt in a straight, efficient path right to the vacuum bag. It's a streamlined design that works beautifully with a smaller motor — and one reason why Oreck bagged uprights are so lightweight. Here's how: our upright vacuums incorporate a "dirty air system" in which dirt is pulled through a fan that breaks it into smaller particles that get sucked up into the vacuum. Oreck's smaller motor drives this fan, as well as the brushroll. Because these smaller motors sit closer to the floor they provide efficient suction and are able to spin the brushroll incredibly fast.

You want POWER & Suction this is it !!! I 1st tried the, New! Magnesium™ It is lightweight and does an OK job. My (Opinion) is if you are older, (70-Plus) and not very strong get the Magnesium. It is very easy to move around and it does as I said an OK job. The Real Machine for "Ultimate-Power" is the Top-of-the-Line, Forever™ Series Edge It is Not a Little "Difference" in Power & Suction. It is a (Major) improvement that as soon as you power it up on carpet you will immediatley (Feel) the (Difference). It is also (Quieter) if that matters to you. It just is a much more a {Substantial) machine overall. If you have read other Reviews they had concerns over the Limited Light Output of the othe Oreck Machines. That will not be the case with this Machine as it has Bright-Lights across the whole front of it. I did purchase mine from a Retail Oreck Retailer. The name of it is not important. Very nice people to deal with. But ................ Do-Not let them tell you that there is a {Slight} difference in "Performance" between the (Forever Series Edge) & the other Oreck up-rights. It is as I said a {Major} difference !!! Oreck vacuums are Sold to many-many consumers for their (Light-Weight). And they are very light in weight. The "Edge" is Heavier but as I have pointed out above if you are still Healthy & have Normal Strength there is no reason at all for you not to go with the "Edge". I live in a Double Story Colonial brick House with a set of long stairs to the up-stairs. It is like 2,800 Sq. Ft. with high ceilings. I mention this because I just did my Home Theater which is downstairs and then brought the "Edge" back up-stairs with me. It did not Kill me or take my Breath or wear me out. I'm a 67 year ole male that is 6'1" and weigh 217 Lbs. No health issues. The reason I am taking the time and putting this much effort and very long explanation is once again because, The retailer will try to talk you out of purchasing the "Edge" because of it's additional weight. Don't Panic try the "Edge" out for yourself !!! You will get your dollars worth I promise you. Oh, the retail store had to order my "Edge" they don't even stock it. This Oreck is going to be with my Wife & I for many yrs. to come. In fact we are discussing buying a 2nd "Edge" and just leave it in the Home Theater. Terry Honaker February 10, 2012
Plenty of Power! This is a well made, powerful vacuum, and my third Oreck. The light on the front of the vacuum is great, and the long cord is a plus. The Oreck Edge is great on carpeting, lifting the pile as you vacuum. But it is too powerful, even on low setting, for my Persian type carpets,and made it very difficult to vacuum them. And with all the suction the vacuum pulls itself forward, but I found it very tiring to keep pulling it back. My hands are small and I found the handle uncomfortable too. Also, not being very mechanically inclined, I had a hard time screwing the handle on with the holes on the inside of the handle. I ended up buying something else and giving the Oreck Edge to my son. He likes it. February 10, 2012
My Christmas gift to Me.. This Oreck out beats all other Orecks, and any other brand. After one use, my carpet looks new. I could not be happier. Love the vac hose. I have 2 other Orecks, bought this one for the vac hose. Works great worth the money!! It is a little heavier than the other Orecks but worth it. You could feel the suction. February 2, 2012
Excellent vacuum This was my first Oreck vacuum purchase. I have owned other vacuums including both bags and bagless. This Oreck out performs any of my previous vacuums. The vacuum has enough power to pick up anything. It can go from shag carpet to tile with no problem. The added wand attachment is a very good idea for getting along edges. I have had people over asking if I bought new carpeting. I told them no but I did purchase a new vacuum. This Oreck raised the carpeting up again and made 20 year carpet look new again. This Oreck outperforms my previous bagless vacuum made for animals, I have 4 cats and there is no dirt or hair left when I am done vacuuming. Thanks Oreck. January 5, 2012
