Oreck® Ultimate Handheld
It's light weight make it easy to carry around.
I bought the Oreck handheld vacuum cleaner just about a year ago. At first I loved it. It was light enough to carry around and I could get under things like sofas with somewhat ease. However, as mentioned in another review the extension wand is way too short for someone who is around the 6 ft mark. I was so impressed with it just after I got it that I bought an upright Pro Power Plus for my Daughter and Son-n-Law and it also came with one of the small handheld Vacs. Both the handheld vacs extension wands have broken at the point where the wand slips onto the flexible hose. I knew it could be a problem shortly after I bought mine because the wand would continually fall off the hose while vacuuming. So within a year, mine broke. I purchased my Daughters unit about 6 months ago while visiting with her. Now upon this visit I went to vacuum for her and found that her unit (Extension wand) is also broken. I have to conclude that the wands are not strong enough nor long enough for this vac. There needs to be some system design that would hold the wand to the vac hose, make the wand longer, and make it more rugged to hold up through many years of use.

This product is hard to use
I have had an upright vacuum for 15 years and love it. I also have the Buster B handheld and it has been awesome. But this one is not what I expected from Oreck. The wands will not stay together. While vacuuming, the bottom wand falls out of the top one. Also, the hose is too short. A standard hose, instead of the "slinky" type would be better. You have to work too hard to use it. And like others have said the hose/wands are too short.

Very bad strain on your back and arms!
After my old handheld finally died with almost 14 years of use, I had to have another one to replace it. After the last vacuum was so good to me, I felt I must make Oreck my first choice for another one. When I first looked at the new design of this vacuum I liked it a lot more than I did the old one. It looked a lot smaller and I liked the fact that it had a place to store the tools on the unit, somthing the old Oreck did not offer. When the unit got to my home I unpacked it and got everything put together which was really easy, only about 5 minutes. However as soon as I attached the large floor attachment to the wand I knew this unit would never work for me. The old vacuum was so easy to use and had no problems being long enough to reach the floor. While I do like the idea of the new wand that allows you to select the length you need for the task at hand, it is simply way to short for me to use. I have to bend way down to reach the floor. If the main reason for needing this unit was not for cleaning for my floors I would keep it, but that is the only task I ordered it for. I never use a broom on my floors and prefer to vacuum them since it removes so much more dirt and dust. Sorry Oreck I will be happy to purchase this product in the future if you make the wand longer.

My husband just bought me this vacuum, and I absolutely love it!! It is very light weight, and easily portable, and it has fantastic suction! I am very impressed with how easy it is to switch out attatchments, and how well it works on my hardwood floors and tile! I would recommend this product for both light and deep cleaning, and would not expect anyone to be disappointed!

this product has poor suction and features
I have been using Oreck vacs for 20 years and even bought them as gifts for family members. But this product by far is the worst vac. There is no curve in the handle and it makes it difficult to use the broom for a quick vac. The parts come apart easily while trying to clean and although the hose looks like a cool idea, it is not. The wand and hose is too short for cleaning. I am 5'5" if you are under 5 feet tall you might like this product for dusting. It is not a clean machine and lacks suction power. I also bought a new XL... but the machine does not hold up to the old model. Over all I would say the quality of Oreck has fallen down hill. The company was better when it did not offer so many choices and just sold a great clean machine. Not all Orecks are a like anymore.

Too expensive for the performance!
The suction is not very good, especially using the floor attachment. The motor is way too loud for such a small vacuum. Strains my back to use because the floor attachment forces you to bend your back (it isn't nearly long enough) to get the floors done. The only way to keep the machine from falling and swiveling all around your body is to put the strap around your neck. Very uncomfortable to use. Not a good value all around. I'm going with the Shark products next time I purchase this kind of vacuum. This one will be put out to pasture to use cleaning my business properties, not for my personal home. I will never buy another one.

great little vac
I have one of these hand held units and I love it.. When I first got it , it would lose suction pretty quick . and i though what the heck. So i bought the cloth bags for it. And it turns out that was the only problem . I was using the green paper bags. The cloth bags breath so much better . I swear if you try the cloth bags you will love your machine. It's well worth the five extra bucks.

Great little vac! Strap it on your shoulder and go!
We got this little vac in a package deal when we purchased the upright. They are both super. ...great filtration system, lightweight, lots of suction, lots of attachments, great quality, practical design.
